About Our Company:
PacifiCoastal Design is a full-service residential Design + Build Company providing innovative design services and the highest quality craftsmanship since 2003. As a licensed General Contractor in San Diego for over 15 years we have established an excellent reputation of providing the clients with exceptional workmanship and final end product. We maintain an A+ rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) year after year. How we Operate:
We are not only your general contractor but we are your design team as well. Whether you’re planning on building your dream home or a small remodel or addition, will listen closely to your specific needs, offer suggestions, and develop a clear vision for your project. By utilizing our design + build approach, we are able to develop the architectural design plans, as well as follow the projects construction phases through to completion. This hands-on process allows us to ensure the project receives the utmost care from beginning to end. Most projects are completed with our in-house design team and also work directly with engineers and architects on larger projects or when appropriate. Our detail-oriented process relies on our time-tested approaches that include strict planning schedules and close, ongoing communications with our clients that guarantee successful projects every time.
Permitting & Engineering: The permitting and engineering process begins right after the design and budget has been agreed upon. During this time we begin to prepare the appropriate documents and drawings to acquire the building permits. This may include, coordinating with Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering and Grading, acquiring up to date energy calculations and developing detailed Architectural information to meet the local City & Planning requirements. After completing all the required documents, we manage the permit process with the City officials to make sure that each project is complete and accurate.

Do you specialize in a particular design style? Regardless of what style of home you prefer, our design flexibility allows us to customize a plan unique for each client. For example, you may be leaning towards a particular style such as: Modern, Mediterranean, Old World, Traditional, Contemporary etc or a possibly a mixture of design styles. Our creative design team will develop a custom tailored plan to suit your preferences & reflects your personal tastes. We also work & consult our associate Architects and Engineers when appropriate.

Rich Lawrence is the founder of PacifiCoastal Design and been in the construction industry for over 25 years. Rich oversees every project with personal attention from start to finish, bringing to the table a wealth of knowledge, experience and an unprecedented eye for detail.

Rich's background experience began working at an early age of 18 working as an apprentice carpenter with a framing crew building custom homes and estates in a prestigious Northern California development. Rich later moved to San Diego for college and studied Architecture and Building Construction Technologies for 4 years to gain more knowledge in the industry. Afterwards, he continued working for as a journeyman carpenter for several more years working with high end home builders in Fairbanks Ranch and Rancho Santa Fe moslty. By 2003 Rich was issued his own General Contractors license. Since then, over the course of the past 16years, in business, Rich has worked with and/or consulted and advised with hundreds of homeowners in the San Diego area and can navigate the city building and planning departments on your behalf to obtain all the necessary permits.
